About Us
MSSW is a dedicated initiative launched under the esteemed umbrella of Madras School of Social Work (MSSW), one of India's premier institutions for Social Work education since 1952. Building on over seven decades of academic excellence, research leadership, and community transformation, this sub-project extends MSSW's mission to create socially sensitive change agents for sustainable development.
Madras School of Social Work was founded in 1952 by the legendary social reformer Mary Clubwala Jadhav, who established it as the fourth social work institution in India and the very first in South India. Her vision of empowering communities through education and professional social work continues to guide every initiative we undertake.
Today, MSSW stands as an Autonomous Institution, NAAC 'A+' Grade accredited, and affiliated to the University of Madras. The institution has earned national recognition by securing the 4th position among the top social work colleges in India, a testament to its unwavering commitment to academic excellence.
To extend MSSW's legacy of transformative education and community engagement through MSSW, creating impactful solutions that address contemporary social challenges and empower individuals and communities toward sustainable growth.
