At Madras School of Social Work ("MSSW"), we are committed to transparency and fairness in all our financial transactions. This Refund and Cancellation Policy outlines the terms and conditions applicable to program fees, application fees, and other payments made for MSSW.

1. Application Fee

• The application fee is non-refundable under all circumstances.
• This fee covers administrative costs associated with processing your application and is payable at the time of submission.
• Payment of the application fee does not guarantee admission to any program.

2. Admission Fee / Seat Confirmation Fee

• Upon selection, candidates are required to pay an admission fee or seat confirmation fee to secure their enrollment.
• This fee is non-refundable once paid, except in the following circumstances:
  • If the program is cancelled by MSSW due to insufficient enrollment or unforeseen circumstances.
  • If the candidate provides valid documentary proof of withdrawal due to medical emergencies or death in the immediate family (subject to management approval).

3. Tuition Fee Refund

The refund of tuition fees is governed by the following schedule:

• All refund requests must be submitted in writing to the MSSW office or via email to principal@mssw.in.
• Refunds, if approved, will be processed within 30–45 business days from the date of approval.
• Refunds will be credited to the original payment method or bank account provided by the applicant.

4. Cancellation by MSSW

MSSW reserves the right to cancel or postpone any program, event, or service due to:

• Insufficient enrollment numbers
• Unforeseen circumstances (natural disasters, pandemics, government directives, etc.)
• Faculty unavailability or logistical challenges

In such cases:

• Full refund of fees paid will be processed within 30 business days.
• Alternatively, candidates may opt to transfer their enrollment to the next available batch or program without additional charges.

5. Scholarship and Financial Aid

• Scholarship amounts awarded by MSSW or external agencies are non-transferable and non-refundable.
• If a scholarship recipient withdraws from the program, any scholarship disbursed must be returned to the institution.
• Financial aid decisions are final and not subject to appeal.

6. Online Course / Certificate Program Refunds

For online courses, certificate programs, and short-term training:

• Access to course materials will be revoked upon cancellation.
• No partial refunds will be issued for incomplete courses.

7. Event and Workshop Fees

• Fees for workshops, seminars, conferences, and events are non-refundable unless the event is cancelled by MSSW.
• In case of event cancellation by MSSW, a full refund will be issued or the amount can be adjusted against future events.

8. Processing Charges

• All refunds are subject to a nominal processing fee of ₹500 or 5% of the refundable amount, whichever is higher.
• Payment gateway charges (if applicable) are non-refundable.

9. How to Request a Refund

To request a refund, please follow these steps:

1. Submit a written request to: MSSW Office, Madras School of Social Work, 32 Casa Major Road, Egmore, Chennai – 600 008. Or email: principal@mssw.in with the subject line "Refund Request — [Your Name] — [Program Name]"
2. Include the following details: Full Name, Enrollment/Application Number, Program Name and Batch, Reason for Withdrawal/Cancellation, Bank Account Details, Copy of Fee Receipt/Payment Proof
3. Processing Time: Refund requests will be reviewed within 10–15 business days. Approved refunds will be processed within 30–45 business days.

10. Dispute Resolution

Any disputes regarding refunds or cancellations shall first be addressed through internal grievance redressal. If unresolved, the matter shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.

11. Changes to This Policy

MSSW reserves the right to amend this Refund and Cancellation Policy at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting on the website. It is the responsibility of the applicant/student to review this policy periodically.
